#MEATOPIAATHOME: THE FESTIVAL WEEKEND LINE-UP
People of Meatopia, we are proud and excited to be bringing you a Meatopia first: a line-up of virtual events, cookalongs and more for what would have been the #Meatopia2020 festival weekend.
Thanks to our friends at Buffalo Trace, we’re able to bring you a cornucopia of content that’s designed to bring a flavour of all the usual things Meatopia has to offer. There will be food. There will be fire. There will be drinks. And there will be music.

Then all you have to do is fire up your grill, get some drinks in the cooler and make sure your outdoor speakers are good to go. Here’s a little extra detail on what we’ve got planned.
TOM FINDLAY’S #MEATOPIAATHOME MIXES
To kick the weekend off in true Meatopia fashion, our favourite Meatopia DJ has created playlists for each and every day of the virtual festival. Tom Findlay (of Groove Armada fame) is one of the biggest and best DJs in the biz and if he can’t get you grooving around your grill then nobody can. FRIDAY 4th SEPTEMBER
CUTTING ROOM SESSION: MEET THE NATIVES AT NANCARROW FARM
Pull up a virtual bench, because the Cutting Room is coming to you. At midday on Friday, the team at Nancarrow Farm, an organic working farm in Truro, are going to show us around their pastures and introduce us to the very special native cattle that live there.
RECIPE: AMNINDER SANDHU’S TANDOOR MUTTON CHOPS
At Meatopia 2019, Amninder Sandhu, former head chef at India’s first fire-only restaurant, brought the magic of her tandoor oven to Tobacco Dock. It’s not a dish anyone at the festival will have forgotten in a hurry. So we’ve asked her to walk us through another of her tandoor recipes over Instagram Stories for #MeatopiaAtHome.
SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER
CUTTING ROOM SESSION: TURNER & GEORGE’S BUTCHERY SCHOOL
No weekend at Meatopia is complete if you don’t come away with a few new butchery tips and tricks. So we’ve asked Tom Richardson-Hill, manager at legendary London butchery Turner & George to show us a few skills. Sharpen those knives, people.
LIVE: BIG HAS’ BACKYARD BARBECUE
Hasan Semay, better known on Instagram as Big Has, made his Meatopia debut last year and has become something of a fire-cooking legend since. His famous cookouts at his family home in North London are a party that anyone who follows him on Instagram would have coveted an invitation to, and through the magic of Instagram Live we’ve got all of our followers on the guestlist. You bring the beers, Has will handle the food.
LIVE: NEW YORK BRASS BAND SATURDAY SESSION
Big tunes, big horns, big beats. No Meatopia party is complete without getting down to a set from the New York Brass Band, who have been regulars on the Meatopia line-up for some time now.
SMOKE AND SUNDOWNERS COCKTAIL CLASS
The embers glow and the sun has started to sink in the sky. We make that cocktail o’clock. The folks at Gorilla, the usual bar team who serve up your drinks at Meatopia each year, are going to show us a few of their favourite barbecue cocktails using spirits from Buffalo Trace and friends.
SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER
BUFFALO TRACE WHISKEY MASTERCLASS
Who doesn’t love a Meatopia Sunday afternoon visit to the Buffalo Trace whiskey vaults on the lower floor of Tobacco Dock? Our old friends at Buffalo Trace are our sponsors for the #MeatopiaAtHome festival weekend, which gives us a great excuse to get stuck into their knockout whiskies. Buffalo Trace is hand-crafted using the finest Kentucky and Indiana corn, selected rye, and superior malted barley before being aged in new oak barrels in historic old warehouses. It’s good stuff through and through and you can stock up on it here.
CUTTING ROOM SESSION: TWISTER FIRESTARTER WORKSHOP WITH LORD LOGS
Dig out that London Log Co trucker cap you picked up last year, because Lord Logs himself is going to show us what’s what when it comes to making fire. The inner caveman or cavewoman in you is going to be giddy with glee.
LIVE: SURF & TURF WITH RICHARD TURNER AND TOM BROWN
Yep, you read that right. One of the UK’s living legends of steak is teaming up with one of the country’s most exciting seafood chefs to bring us an extra-special cookalong. They’ll be going Live at five to cook us all ember-roast fillet and half lobster. This is one not to be missed.
As the weekend draws closer, our hearts and bellies are yearning to be setting up for a weekend of food, fire, drink and music at Tobacco Dock, but this year the universe had other plans. Instead, we cannot wait to virtually host you for a socially distant version of our much-loved festival. We hope you enjoy tuning in as much as we have enjoyed pulling it together for you.
